The Department of Physics currently offers only post-graduate
programs in Physics, including the
Master's degree and
the PhD degree.
A four-years BS-MS program and a three-years MS by research program are
currently in the planning stage.

The Department of Physics currently has a teaching Physics Laboratory to cater the needs of undergraduate/post-graduate students, which is equipped with experimental setups that can boast of the latest technologies. In addition to this, for conducting advanced research, IIT Palakkad has set-up different central facilities namely Chandra High Performance Computing Cluster, Central Instrumentation and Central Micro-Fabrication Facility (CIF and CMFF), and a Central Facility for Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (CFMM). Other Central facilities are in the planning stage.
The Department has a warm and vibrant environment hosting a number of activities, including a Journal Club, regularly organized seminars and colloquium, yearly symposiums, and outreach programs.
