Module 1: Atomic Structure

Atomic structure of two-electron system: He, Many-electron systems: Hartree-Fock method, L-S coupling, J-J coupling, Interaction of electromagnetic field with atoms, Zeeman effect, Stark effect, Paschen-Back effect .

Module 2: Molecular Physics and Spectroscopy

Electronic structure of H₂ molecule: LCAO and LCMO methods, Molecular spectroscopy, Microwave spectroscopy, Infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Electron spin resonance (ESR), X-ray spectroscopy .

Module 3: Lasers

Principles of laser action in atoms and molecules, Einstein coefficients, Population inversion, Two-level and three-level systems, He-Ne laser, Other inert-gas lasers, Atomic halogen lasers .
