M.Sc. in Physics
Starting from August, 2019, the Department of Physics runs a two-years Masters programme in Physics providing students with a strong foundation in modern physics while exposing them to cutting-edge topics through carefully designed courses. It offers advanced theoretical as well as experimental training in Physics to students interested to pursue a career in science and technology. Along with the core courses in Physics, the programme includes a set of elective courses designed specifically in accordance with the current world-wide trends of research in different streams in Physics. It also fosters a research-oriented mindset through project-based learning by providing students with opportunity to take up, as a part of the course, short-term as well as extended projects on contemporary topics in different areas of the subject so that they can have a flavour of cutting edge research. The curriculum is reviewed and updated regularly to keep pace with emerging developments in physics and the evolving needs of the academic and scientific community.
Eligibility criteria and other information
Admission to the M.Sc course in Physics are offered to those who have qualified in the Joint Admission Test for Masters in Physics (JAM - Physics). The candidates qualifying in JAM will have to satisfy the eligibility requirement for admission into the M.Sc in Physics programme at IIT Palakkad (for more details, see the PG Admission Portal). All candidates admitted through JAM should have a valid Bachelor’s degree, while there is no restrictions at 10+2 level.
